Montcortés Hall

The Montcortés hall is a rectangular room that opens onto Plaça Sant Just through two large balconies with direct views to the Basilica of Sant Just: A hall of great beauty which was originally used for the Moxó family social activities. 

It is presided over by a marble fireplace and has original carpentry details (18th century). But above all, the pictorial ornamentation of the ceiling and walls stands out, with vibrant floral decorations in gilded frames (19th century). It is a truly palatial ball, named after Mr. Bonaventura de Moxó and Baron de Montcortés, the first of his lineage to reside in the Palau since 1775. With 70sqm / 753sqft and capacity for 48/60 people (banquet/cocktail), it constitutes an exclusive and highly valuable setting for private celebrations on another level.

Next to the Montcortés hall sets the luxurious room formerly used as a noble bedroom, which retains its original decoration, the most representative element of which is the triumphal arch that separated the antechamber and the ancient bedroom. This arch is a jewel of 18th century Catalan carving in the domestic context, a true architectural treasure formed by a large solid gilded wood door with very rich finishes.
